1. What exactly is the ZTrainer?

ZTrainer is a six-week, interval training sports walking program based on Olympic-style race walking and the High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) exercise strategy. This form of exercise is often referred to as Guerilla Cardio. The ZTrainer contains motivational words and fitness tips from a certified personal trainer with fun, upbeat music that will make you want to keep walking and burning fat. Each week of the program is designed to increase your stamina.

2. What is interval training?

According the American Council on Exercise fitness interval training is a modest to vigorous intensity effort designed to improve general fitness. Users periodically increase intensity throughout the workout. The ZTrainer uses interval training to jumpstart your metabolism and burn more calories. It's similar to your car - cars burn more fuel during stop, go and slow traffic than driving at a steady speed on the highway.


3. How do I get the best results with ZTrainer?

ZTrainer was designed to progressively build your stamina so start with week one and progressively walk your way to week six. As your fitness and stamina increases or if you are already at a moderate to advanced fitness level...see the answer to the next question.


4. Can weeks be combined?


Absolutely, in fact it is encouraged by ZTrainer junkies. ZTrainer is created to fit any fitness level. For instance, beginners may start off with week one. However as your stamina increases and you want to kick it up a notch you can mix and match. i.e. Try starting combining week 2 and week 4 in one workout. Mix and match anyway you please. Or try the Super Set - that's all six weeks in one day which is approximately two hours!


5. Benefits of Sports Walking Vs. Running?


Sports walking provides great cardiovascular benefits and much less stress on the joints than running. The key is to walk fast enough to get your heart rate up. Walking to the music on the ZTrainer gets your heart rate at the appropriate pace. The music on the program was specifically designed for the maximum aerobic benefit. Taking 10,000 steps per day is the ideal way to lose weight.


6. Why 10,000 steps a day?


Health professionals agree that 10,000 steps per day (or five miles) is an effective and manageable way to improve your level of fitness. Most people take about 5300 steps daily just doing everyday activities. Setting a goal of 10,000 steps per day is in line with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's recommendations of 30 minutes of moderate-to-intense exercise at least 5 times per week. ZTrainer is the best way to reach your daily fitness goals.

9. How many calories are burned sports walking one mile?


This will vary depending on the individual, speed walked, terrain, etc. An average is 100 calories per mile.


10. I don't have time to walk 10,000 steps a day how can I do it?


First get a pedometer and put in on from the time you wake up until you go to bed. You'll be surprised at the number of steps you take just doing normal things around the house like walking up and down the stairs, walking from the house to the car, etc. Make a conscious effort to walk. Here's how:

Instead of calling your co-worker walk to see them instead

Take the stairs instead of the elevator

Park your car further away when going to the store

On public transportation - Get off the bus or train one stop earlier

Bring in one bag at a time when bringing groceries from the car.

Walk to a store in your neighborhood instead of driving.


11. Can ZTrainer be used on the treadmill?


Absolutely, In fact the program was designed after the interval training patterns of the treadmill.
